TUESDAY: April 14, 2026: HIS stable name appropriately is “Frankie”, and he hit the right note for his new connections at home today.

Hawkesbury trainer Marc Chevalier took a punt to buy The New Sinatra online for $12,000 nearly 12 months ago, and syndicated him amongst a group of owners, including wife Charlotte.

The Russian Revolution five-year-old earned $21,000 for his “encore” in the Vale Beth Johnson Class 1 Handicap (1300m).

With Tyler Schiller aboard, The New Sinatra ($8.50) defeated leading Kembla Grange trainers Rob and Luke Price’s Me Me ($6.50) to post his second victory from 14 starts; he has also been placed on six occasions.

The gelding fetched $200,000 as a Magic Millions yearling, and was previously trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton.

He broke through for his first win at Newcastle on April 13, 2024 in a CG&E Maiden Plate (1200m).

“The New Sinatra is a high maintenance horse,” Chevalier said this evening.

“He has had both throat and knee surgery, but I felt he was worth a punt when he went online in May last year.

“I can give him sufficient work to get him ready, but he has to be ridden neutral, otherwise he struggles with his breathing.

“When everything goes right, he has ability and Tyler (Schiller) gave him a great ride today.

“I gave him only one run last July after we bought him, and turned him out.

“This was his sixth run since resuming, and he had been placed twice at Kembla Grange in December and February.

“It was great to get a result with him today for everyone involved.”

The New Sinatra loomed up gamely in the straight to join Tessy Tee ($11) before edging to the front, then had just enough in reserve to stave off a late finishing Me Me.

. Chevalier has called a halt with his three-year-old filly Stand My Ground’s current racing campaign.

Stand My Ground at only her fourth start made the running when eighth to favorite Ohope Wins in last Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick.

She has been in work for quite a while, and had a trip to Melbourne before winning her Maiden (1600m) at Newcastle on March 12,” Chevalier said.

“We could have gone on to Brisbane for the Queensland Oaks, but she is a big filly and it’s the right thing to stop now and give her a break.

“I’m sure she will come back a really nice mare as a four-year-old next season.”
