About Hawkesbury Race Club
Hawkesbury Race Club (HRC) is a registered thoroughbred racing club and not-for-profit organisation located at Clarendon, NSW, approximately 60 kilometres north-west of Sydney. Operating under a licence and the Rules of Racing administered by Racing NSW, HRC conducts race meetings and manages a multi-purpose venue encompassing raceday events, non-raceday functions, a training track facility and motel accommodation. HRC is one of the oldest race clubs in Australia commencing racing in 1871. It is an integral part of thoroughbred racing in NSW and a vital community institution in the Hawkesbury region.

The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to take the helm of one of regional NSW's oldest racing clubs at a pivotal moment in its history. Reporting initially to the Administrator appointed by Racing NSW and eventually to a Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic leadership across all facets of the Club's operations — from race meeting delivery and precinct development to financial performance, people and culture, and community engagement.

Key priorities for the incoming CEO include:
-
Driving financial sustainability across HRC's racing, training, functions, and motel businesses
-
Leading the Club’s strategic direction in partnership with the Administrator/Board
-
Driving commercial revenue and stakeholder relationships
-
Overseeing day-to-day operations, including racing, events, hospitality, and venue and motel management
-
Leading development of a long-term masterplan for the Hawkesbury Racecourse precinct
-
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
-
Building and maintaining strong relationships with the community, industry bodies, and government
-
Embedding a high-performance culture aligned with HRC's values: One Team, Accountable, Do the Right Thing, Professional and Pride

About You
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially astute leader who brings:
-
Demonstrated senior leadership experience with full P&L accountability in a commercial, venue, events, sporting or hospitality environment
-
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting and cost control
-
A proven track record in stakeholder engagement — with boards, government bodies, industry partners and community organisations
-
The ability to lead organisational change and foster a positive, values-led workplace culture
Experience in the racing, wagering or related sporting industry, familiarity with licensed venue management, and exposure to capital works or precinct development are highly desirable.
