THURSDAY: January 22, 2026: HAWKESBURY husband and wife trainers Mitch and Desiree Kearney have set their sights on a $2m feature at Royal Randwick next month.

Understandably so given the couple missed out through an unfortunate mix-up on a $400,000 payday in last year’s renewal of the Inglis Millennium (1100m) with their ladies’ syndicate filly Sheeza Diva.

That’s in the past and this time Team Kearney is going for the main prize ($1.155m) on February 7 with another filly showing plenty of promise.

Oh Yes She Did, a daughter of 2019 The Everest winner Yes Yes Yes, was a $240,000 purchase at last year’s Inglis Classic yearling sale, and is paid up for the sales restricted race.

Oh Yes She Did begins a new campaign at her second career start in the 2YO Handicap (1000m), with Tyler Schiller aboard.

Schiller had the mount when Oh Yes She Did was an eye-catching fourth on debut to subsequent Gold Coast winner Shiki in the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes over the same course on October 4.

Team Kearney initially had the option of resuming their filly at Canterbury tomorrow evening or Randwick on Saturday, but the former was scrapped because of insufficient acceptors.

“The Randwick race was always our choice anyway,” Desiree Kearney said today.

“We’re hoping to get her prizemoney up further to be sure of getting a start in the Inglis Millennium.

“She has had the one trial (second over 740m at Randwick on January 15) leading into the weekend race.

“Unfortunately, drawing the outside barrier (11) on Saturday is of some concern.

“But Oh Yes She Did has a good turn of foot, and Tyler knows her.

“We’re confident not asking too much of her early in her two-year-old season will enable her to really shine this preparation.”

Team Kearney didn’t press on with the filly after the Gimcrack, opting to give her a nice break with the rich Inglis race in mind.

“Because we knew she had a bright future, we wanted to look after her and not keep going after the Gimcrack,” Desiree Kearney said.

“Oh Yes She Did has done well in her lead-up work since coming back, and is blooming.”
