HYPERBOLIC READY FOR LADIES DAY CUP MISSION

Now he is hoping to add a Listed local feature to his resume by landing tomorrow’s Evergreen Turf Ladies Day Cup (1500m) at Hawkesbury, which was run for the first time last year on a Saturday after being switched from its traditional Thursday date.
The leading Hawkesbury trainer nominated both Bella Khadijah and Hyperbolic for the Cup, and is relying on the latter with the former heading to Rosehill Gardens for the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m).
And whilst he was pleased with Hyperbolic’s performance on resumption when seventh to Cross Tasman in a Benchmark 88 Handicap (1400m) at Royal Randwick on October 17, he is looking forward to an even better showing tomorrow.
“Hyperbolic always goes better second up than she does first up,” he said this morning.
“She has taken nice improvement from the Randwick race, and I’ m really happy with her.”
Hyperbolic, a five-year-old daughter of Proisir, drops from 60kg to 54kg for the rise in class, and has an excellent record at her home track.
Her four Hawkesbury runs have resulted in a win and three seconds.
Adam Farragher will ride Hyperbolic, who is the sole provincial runner in the Ladies Day Cup.
A very consistent mare with five wins and nine placings from her 21 starts, she will have a cross-over nose band back on.
Hyperbolic has been placed numerous times in open company, including last December’s Group 3 Belle of the Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford, and then on three occasions during this year’s Brisbane winter carnival.
Widdup’s other Hawkesbury representative is Southport (Christian Reith) in the Irresistible Pools & Spas Provincial 4YO & Up Maiden Handicap (1100m).
A lightly-raced Bivouac four-year-old, Southport is yet to place from only three starts, and is making his first appearance since late June.
“Southport has ability and his two recent trials have been good,” Widdup said.
“But he loses the plot on racedays.
“He needs to improve his manners there, and hopefully he can do that tomorrow.”
Widdup has two Rosehill acceptors; Bella Khadijah and unraced two-year-old Toytown in the $1m Listed Golden Gift (1100m).
Yesterday’s Group 1 Oaks winning jockey Zac Lloyd (Proxima Dea) has been booked for the stablemates.
“Though I nominated Bella Khadijah (who was successful at Hawkesbury’s stand-alone meeting earlier in the year) for the Ladies Day Cup, I feel she is better suited in the Rosehill race,“ he said.
“Unfortunately it looks as though Toytown (second emergency) will miss out getting a run, which would be very disappointing as he goes allright.”
Toytown, a Lucky Vega youngster, is the first horse Widdup has prepared for Yu Long Investments.
His two 800m trials at Hawkesbury have resulted in a close second on September 29 and an easy win on October 20.
Lloyd partnered the colt on both occasions.
. The rail is in the TRUE position for the eight-race program, which begins at 1.20pm. Hawkesbury’s racecourse manager Kristian Mitchell posted a ‘Soft 5’ rating at 9.30am today. Only 1mm of rain was recorded in the previous 24 hours, and a total of 13.5mm in the past seven days. In regard to irrigation, 6mm has been put on the track in the previous 24 hours, and overall there has been 18mm in the past seven days.
