WIDDUP ADDS MIND YA BIZZ TO PMC TEAM

Hawkesbury’s premier trainer has next autumn’s annual series in mind for yesterday’s Rosehill Gardens winner Mind Ya Bizz, along with stablemate Waerea, who scored at home earlier in the week.
Mind Ya Bizz ($5) clinched a metropolitan breakthrough, albeit in the stewards’ room, in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m) against her own sex, putting the seal on an excellent campaign.
Mind Ya Bizz was beaten narrowly to the post by Transcend ($4.40), but RacingNSW stewards supported the mare’s rider Zac Lloyd’s objection that “significant contact” not far from the finish, causing her to become “badly unbalanced”, cost her being first across the line.
“Mind Ya Bizz deserved that win,” Widdup said today.
“She has really come of age this time in work, and deserves a shot at the Provincial-Midway Championships.
“We’ll stop now and give her a break.”
From six starts this preparation, Mind Ya Bizz has won three races and also been placed three times.
The four-year-old daughter of Heroic Valour at $31 was narrowly beaten by talented Scone mare Avista at Royal Randwick over 1400m last Saturday, and Widdup opted for a quick back-up.
“Mind Ya Bizz had done well during the week, and it was a suitable race yesterday against her own sex.”
Widdup was especially pleased to get a city victory with Mind Ya Bizz for her breeder Ralph Tierney.
“Ralph is a terrific chap to deal with, and has done a good job breeding his horses,” he said.
“He bred Tintookie, who is closely related to Mind Ya Bizz, and we won five races with her; three of them in town culminating with the Group 3 Wenona Girl at Randwick in 2024.
“And we’ve got Mind Ya Bizz’s older half-sister Like A Surgeon (by Winning Rupert), who is unbeaten from two starts at the provincials last season.
“She underwent surgery to remove chips from a fetlock after winning at Wyong in early May, and won’t be long coming back into work.”
. Widdup added to Mind Ya Bizz’s victory with a Wyong double today with a pair of favorites to lift his early season tally to five.
Zac Lloyd partnered both Savoonga ($2.45) and Anthropoid ($1.30) to decisive victories.
Savoonga, a lightly-raced four-year-old North Pacific mare, made it back to back wins, in the Class 1 Handicap (1600m).
She had broken through at the same track in a Provincial Maiden (1350m) on August 2.
Anthropoid, a three-year-old Prague gelding raced by Mulberry, bolted home by more than five lengths in the Provincial Maiden Plate (1350m).
A $180,000 purchase at last year’s Magic Millions yearling sale at the Gold Coast, Anthropoid was having his sixth start.
. There are two provincial entries for Thursday’s $200,000 Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury.
Leading Newcastle trainer Kris Lees has nominated recent Coffs Harbour Cup runner-up Loch Eagle, and Hawkesbury trainer Fabio Martino has entered Substantial.
