SAVVY HALLIE GETS MULBERRY'S THE EVEREST SLOT

The classy four-year-old mare, a thrice Group 2 winner and Group 1 runner-up, will attempt to become only the second of her sex to win Saturday week’s $20m 1200m feature.
Bella Nipotina (Craig Williams) was seven years of age when she won in 2024.
Following Jedibeel, who ran 11th to Ka Ying Rising last year, Savvy Hallie also will run in Mulberry Racing’s slot in the world’s richest race on turf.
“Mulberry and Savvy Hallie’s owners BK Racing & Breeding and Ben Vassallo have finalised an agreement for The Everest,” Widdup said this morning.
“She has come through really well from her great run when second to Tempted in last Saturday’s Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
“Obviously the favorite Ka Ying Rising and Tempted are going to be hard to beat, but Savvy Hallie deserves her spot.
“It’s exciting to have another runner in The Everest, and my goal now is to have her at her very best for Saturday week.”
Whilst Nash Rawiller has formed a successful association with Savvy Hallie, no booking has yet been confirmed for the 10th running of The Everest.
RacingNSW and the Australian Turf Club introduced the weight-for-age sprint in 2017 when it was worth $10m, and won by Redzel (Kerrin McEvoy).
The prizemoney was increased to $13m in 2018, $14m in 2019, and then $15m in 2020.
From 2023 onwards, The Everest has boasted a $20m purse, and it attained Group 1 status in 2024.
