Sales and Events Manager

We are seeking an experienced Sales and Events Manager who appreciates both driving sales and building relationships. Your results-driven focus and professionalism to build the business will be rewarded.

Hawkesbury Race Club (HRC) are looking for a highly motivated and driven Sales and Events Manager to join the Team. Based in the fast-growing corridor in the north-west of Sydney, and less than an hour from the CBD, HRC is the closest provincial racecourse to metropolitan Sydney.


Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to drive the sales strategies and manage new event opportunities. Building of client and stakeholder relationships is critical to the success of

this role.


  • Planning, directing, and monitoring sales activities of race day and non-race day events and functions at HRC

  • Attracting clients and promoting the club as a preferred hospitality destination in the Greater West Sydney area through telemarketing, EDM, networks and attending event-based functions, trade shows and exhibitions.

  • Develop innovative sales packages.

  • Conduct financial analysis and pre/post-event evaluation on all feature race day events.

  • Manage race day hospitality sales revenue and expenditure budgets and setting sales targets

  • Manage race day and function set up team as well as coordinating catering/ kitchen staff

  • Supervise, train, mentor, and coach team members.


  • a pragmatic and collaborative approach that can foster positive relationships and deliver outcomes

  • strong project / event management experience

  • experience in, and a passion for developing valuable, inspiring, and engaging events – including sourcing guest speakers, invitations, catering, and follow up

  • an ability to go from the macro to the micro as the situation demands

  • a 'can-do' attitude 

  • a positive and friendly genuine personality, and appropriate sense of humour

  • ability to be proactive and deliver results as part of a team (beyond your department)

  • knowledge of the thoroughbred racing industry and/or events management and hospitality as well as strong thoroughbred industry contacts.

  • Some weekend work will be required from time to time
